Kocherer, John G. (24 MAR 1889 – 25 DEC 1968)
Funeral services for John G. Kocherer, 79, were held December 28, 1968 at St.
Bernard's Church, Thorp, who passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, Chippewa
Falls, December 25, 1968, after suffering from several strokes since November
14, 1968, at a nursing home in Chippewa. Father Brockman officiated, and
interment was made in the parish cemetery.
Pallbearers were Cyril Alger, Lorin Bivans, Donald Sayles, Chet Glasshof, Joe
Benzschawel, and Carl Johnson.
He was born March 24, 1889 at Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.). He was united in marriage
to Bertha Splinter, who passed away on December 18, 1954.
Surviving are two sons, Clarence of St. Paul, Francis of Chicago; three
daughters, (Dolores) Mrs. Leonard Krych, Chicago, (Romilda) Mrs. Don Hassing of
Chicago, and (Anne) Mrs. Michael Luzinski of St. Paul; two sisters, (Anne) Mrs.
Joe Dulek of Thorp, (Alvina) Mrs. George Schmidt of Elk Mound, Wis.; 19
grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son,
Alvin, who died in World War II in the U.S. Navy.
