Danen, Kathleen “Kathy” A. (Brunetto) (24 JUN 1956 - 22 JAN 2017)
Kathleen “Kathy” A. Danen, age 60, of Stetsonville passed away on Sunday, Jan.
22 at her residence under the loving care of her family and Hope Hospice.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 27 at Community United Church
of Christ, Medford with Pastor Mary Jo Laabs officiating.
Visitation will take place at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford from 5-7 p.m. on
Thursday, Jan. 26 and also at church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service
at 11 a.m. on Friday. Interment of her cremated remains will take place at a
later date.
Kathy was born on June 24, 1956 at Milwaukee to the late Janice Elizabeth (Gebert)
and Frank J. Brunetto. She attended Milwaukee area elementary schools and was a
1974 graduate of Medford Area High School. She attended Northcentral Technical
College in Wausau.
She married Michael Dassow in Whittlesey in 1983 and they were later divorced in
1989. In 1992 she married Daryl Johnson in Medford and he preceded her in death
in 1997. In 2000 she married Michael “Minnows” Danen in Medford and he survives.
Kathy moved to Medford in 1970 with her family. After her education, she worked
at Krug Westside Bus and Truck from 1983-1999, Northwest Wisconsin CEP from
1999-2012 and Indianhead from 2012-2014. She then did part-time work for H & R
Block, Stetsonville Oil, Aramark and most recently as a secretary for Community
United Church of Christ, Medford. Kathy helped start the Stetsonville First
Responder program in 2004 and was a member until 2014. She was also a Taylor
County Aspirus Hospital EMT from 2005-2014. She was a Red Cross volunteer from
2005-2014. She enjoyed quilting, reading and her grandsons. She was a member of
Stetsonville Lions, Medford Morning Rotary, Taylor County Reality Fair, Junior
Achievement, Board of Centennial Community Center and a graduate of the
Leadership Medford program.
In addition to her husband, Kathy is survived by her daughter, Megan (Jason
Lindeman) Dassow of Colby; two grandsons, Landon Graap and Ayden Lindeman both
of Colby; sister, Karen (Don) Schmidt of Colby; brother, Patrick (Theresa)
Brunetto of Eau Claire and many other family and friends.
