Kind, Dannie “Dan” Bruce (29 NOV 1944 - 19 JAN 2017)
Dannie “Dan” Bruce Kind, of Marshfield, passed away on Jan. 19, 2017 at the
Three Oaks Nursing home after a long battle with cancer.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 23 at Faith Fellowship
Church (217 W McMillan St) in Marshfield. Visitation was held from 9 a.m. until
the time of the service at the church on Monday with Pastor Larry Sheahan
officiating.
Dan was born on Nov. 29, 1944 in Fond du Lac, to Orlando and Alvina (Bauer) Kind
and they preceded him in death.
Dan was brother to Gary Kind of Greenwood and Steve (Carol) Kind of Phillips. He
went to school in Greenwood and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1963.
Dan was united in marriage to Judith “Judy” (Nelles) Kind on Feb. 27, 1965 in
Marshfield at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed 52 years together in
marriage. After schooling, he worked for Barr Minkery and then Marshfield
Milling (Prince Corporation) of Marshfield for 37 years as a salesman and
customer service while living in Phillips.
After retirement, he got his dream of owning his own business by purchasing the
Welcome Inn, in Medford with his wife Judy and ran it together for 13 years.
After selling the motel they made their home in Marshfield.
Dan loved deer hunting, bowling and snowmobiling in his younger years and all
sports especially football and basketball. He enjoyed watching all his kids and
grandkids participate in sports. He would travel to wherever they had a game. He
loved taking care of his yard and making it look just right. He also enjoyed
family gatherings and everyone that knew him would tell you that and had a
strong belief in family.
In addition to his wife, Dan is survived by his five children, Mark (Kathy) of
Rib Lake, Diane (Pat) Matuszewski of Johnson Creek, Ricky (Karen) and Randy
(Cristina) of Colorado Springs, Colo. and David (Jenny) of Cottage Grove; eleven
grandchildren, Matt, Kaiti, Nicole, Ashley, Sydney, Riley, Travis, Doug,
Cassidy, Ana and Lilly; and four great-grandchildren, Kyanan, Elexys, Kayden and
Mia.
