Jacoby, Leander F. (8august 1926 – 13 January 2017) With Flag
Leander F. Jacoby, 90, of Neillsville died Jan. 13, 2017, at Memorial Medical
Center in Neillsville.
Leander was born Aug. 8, 1926, in Cottonwood, MT, the son of Paul and Christine
Jacoby. The family moved to Seattle, WA, where he graduated from O’Dea High
School and attended Seattle Community College for two years. He was drafted into
the army, spent a year in Korea where he was injured, falling through a roof. He
then transferred to the military police. He had the honor of meeting and
transporting General Douglas MacArthur when he came to Korea.
He worked for the United States Postal System for 30 years, first as a carrier
and later as a clerk. He enjoyed family outings, boating, working on cars, and
hockey games.
Leander and Dorothy were married Oct. 17, 2003, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in
Neillsville. After their marriage, they traveled to Seattle several times and
spent a couple of winters in Penrose, CO. He enjoyed playing cards, dominoes,
the game of Sequence, and watching TV.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy, four stepsons and several nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John and Terry and their
wives.
The family thanks Dr. Cruz and the staff at Memorial Medical Center and Father
Varkey V. Joseph for the care and kindness they extended to Lee and Dorothy.
A Memorial Mass will be held Jan. 28, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in
Neillsville. Father Varkey V. Joseph will officiate. St. Mary’s choir, Kelly
Nielsen and Vincente Cortez will provide music. Neillsville Legion Post 73 will
conduct military rites. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at
the church with mass to follow.
