Robinson, Nellie Jean (13 March 1927 – 20 January 2017)
Nellie Jean Robinson, 89, of Humbird died Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at her home.
Nellie was born March 13, 1927, in Chicago, IL, to Roscoe and Maude (Cummings)
Salmon. Nellie married her high school sweetheart, Robert Robinson, Nov. 21,
1947, in Chicago and together they had seven children. Robert preceded her in
death Feb. 19, 2014.
While living in Chicago, Nellie worked at Motorola until they moved to Fifield,
Wi, where she and Robert operated Fifield Cash Store for several years. After
that they moved to Lugerville, WI, when she worked at Phillips Plastics in
Phillips. Eventually, the couple bought a farm in Fairchild, and Nellie worked
at the Osseo Area Hospital and Nursing Home until she retired.
Nellie liked to be active and enjoyed all kinds of sports; pool, archery,
hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and water-skiing. She was a talented musician
who taught herself to play the harmonica, piano, guitar and the accordion.
Nellie is survived by three daughters, Patricia Frezados of Bridgeview, IL,
Michelle Robinson of Superior, and Denise (Bob) Williams of Superior; one son
Daniel (Deborah) Robinson of Florence; 17 grandchildren and 24
great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Robert, Nellie was preceded in death by her parents,
Roscoe, and Maude, one son Lester, two daughters, Jennifer Robinson, and
Kathleen Luedke, one grandson Tamujin Walther, two sisters, Georgia Kobeske and
Mildred Riske.
Memorial services for Nellie will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at
Schiefelbein Funeral Home in Osseo. Rev. Terry Marg will be officiating. Burial
will be in Mentor Cemetery in the Town of Mentor, Humbird, Jackson County.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
