Alice E. Mroz, age 86, of Thorp (Clark Co.), Wisconsin, passed away at Dove Healthcare – Wissota Health in Chippewa Falls, WI on Friday, January 20, 2017.

Alice Estelle Strzok was born on May 8, 1930, in the town of Withee (Clark Co.), the daughter of Michael C. and Anna F. (Wnek) Strzok. She was raised on the family farm and received her elementary education at Pozen School, and graduated from Thorp High School in 1949. She worked at Thorp Finance for ten years after graduation. Alice was united in marriage to Clarence R. Church in Thorp. They took over the operation of the Mroz farm in the town of Withee, northeast of Thorp. Alice was a full time mother, homemaker and farm wife after the birth of their daughter, working alongside her husband Clarence on the farm and assisting with his logging business. She continued to reside on the farm with Clarence until a few days prior to her passing.

Alice was a member of St. Bernard – St. Hedwig Catholic Church and the PCCW. She had many interests, including bowling, golfing, poka dancing, cooking, canning, watching sports, and spending time with family and friends. She loved tending to her flower beds and gardens and watching things grow. Many neighbors and friends were recipients of her garden produce or farm fresh eggs through the years. Alice's generosity, kindness and fun loving nature will be remembered by all who knew her.

She will be dearly remembers by her husband of 61 years, Clarence; her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Terry Halida of Chippewa Falls; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rose Zuber of Colby, Agnes Bogacz of Chicago, Theresa (Ralph) Javore of Menomonee Falls, Alice (Edwin) Bishop of Franklin, Louis Wehlacz of Glendora, California, and Delores Strzok of Thorp; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Chester and E. Harvey Strzok; and two sisters, Lorraine Wehlacz and Margaret Mroz, as well as five brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at St. Bernard – St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. James Kowalski and Rev. Josby Mathew co-celebrated, and burial followed in Old St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery, with her nephews serving as pallbearers. Lunch was served afterwards in the church basement.
