Wagner, Walter H. (30 August 1906 - 22 July 1974)
Funeral services are to be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 1:30 p.m. from St.
John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church for Walter H. Wagner, 67, of Rt. 2,
Neillsville, who died Monday, July 22, following a brief illness. The Rev.
Norman W. Lindloff will officiate and burial will follow in the Neillsville City
Cemetery. The body of Mr. Wagner was to be in state from 1 p.m. Wednesday at the
Georgas Funeral Home, and then taken to the church at noon today (Thursday) to
lie in state there until time of services.
Mr. Wagner, the son of August and Ernestina (Sauerberg) Wagner, was born August
30, 1906, in the Town of Pine Valley and was educated in schools there. Upon
completing his education, he left the area and worked for the Milwaukee Electric
Company. Following his marriage to the former Elizabeth Apazeller, he and his
wife moved to Neillsville where Mr. Wagner worked for the American Stores
Dairies for 25 years. He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three children, Walter H. Wagner,
Jr., of Santa Ana, Ca., Marvin R. Wagner of Menomonie, and Mrs. Elsie Carter of
Santa Ana, Ca.; three sisters, Mrs. Meta Opperman of Milwaukee, Mrs. Erna
Richardson of Neillsville, and Mrs. Lawrence (Ruth) Andrews of New Brighton, Mn.;
three brothers, Frederick, Herbert, and Martin Wagner, all of Neillsville; and
10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
