Luoma, Miriam H. (Puro) (10 MAY 1927 - 17 DEC 2017)

Miriam H. Luoma, age 89, of Oshkosh, died Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Bella Vista Assisted Living in Oshkosh.

She was born on May 10, 1927 in Owen, WI, the daughter of Henry and Johanna (Marin) Puro. On August 18, 1947, she married George J. Luoma in Waukegan, IL. He preceded her in death on January 23, 1972.

Miriam grew up in Owen, WI until moving to Waukegan, IL at age eighteen. She then moved to the Upper Peninsula from 1956-67. Miriam then lived in Fond du Lac until moving to Tucson, AZ in 1991 and returned to Oshkosh in 2008.

Miriam was a former member of Faith Ev. Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac and attended Martin Luther Church in Oshkosh. She enjoyed oil painting, writing poetry and children's stories, and doing various crafts.

Survivors include her children, Katherine (William) Kaurala of Hartford, WI, Marvin Luoma of Fox Lake, WI, James (Marie) Luoma of Tulare, CA, and Linda (William) Babcock of Oshkosh; six grandchildren, Cheryl (Daniel) Meister of Hartford, WI, Richard (Debra) Kaurala of Milwaukee, Jeffrey (Elaine) Luoma of Sweetboro, NY, Christopher Luoma of Tulare, CA, Agustina Rodriguez of Fond du Lac, Catalina (Anthony) Immel of Fond du Lac; seven great-grandchildren, Bryan Meister, Jordan and Laney Kaurala, Brianna and Caleb Immel, Ellie and Grayson Luoma; one sister, Gertrude Brien of Fond du Lac; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; her siblings, Toivo, Katherine, Pentha, Arvo, Pell, Helen Watson, Onnie.

Visitation will take place on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 10-11 AM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. Funeral service will follow the visitation at the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Entombment will follow the service at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.
