Glen Rhodes, 77 Dies; Rites Held Here Dec. 26

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Hemer Funeral Home Medford, for Glen G. Rhodes, 77, town of Holway resident who died Sunday morning at Memorial hospital where he had been a patient two days. He had been in ill health for the past year with a heart ailment.

Rev. Warren Behling, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran church, Medford, officiated at services and cemetery committal rites. Burial took place in Perkinstown community cemetery. The body lay in state Christmas day from 4 to 9 p.m.

Glen Guilford Rhodes was born October 26, 1896 at East Twin, Ill. He received his education in Bloomington schools, Ill, and he was married to the former Laura Stauffer at Bloomington January 1, 1917.

He was engaged in farming and long distance trucking in the Bloomington area until 1933 when he moved to Taylor county and farmed in the town of Holway and worked in the woods and in mink ranching. He also was employed several years by Hurd Millwork Corp.

Mrs. Laura Rhodes and a daughter, Erma, Mrs. Harry Heirlmeier, Medford, survive, along with four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Rhodes was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
