Rochester, Josie Virgil (21 APR 1910 - 10 JUN 1973)
Funeral Held Wednesday for Josie Rochester
Funeral services were conducted here Wednesday afternoon at the Hemer funeral
home for Josie Virgil Rochester, 63 year old Perkinstown resident who died
Sunday of an apparent heart attack at his home. He had been in ill health or
several years.
Rev. Dennis Drews officiated and burial took place in the Perkinstown Community
cemetery.
Mr. Rochester was born April 21, 1910, in Jackson county and received his
education there. In 1933, he moved to the Perkinstown area where he farmed and
operated a garage and repair services for a number of years. Later he was
employed by the town of Grover as a grader operator, retiring in 1971 due to ill
health. Mr. Rochester also served as a Justice of the Peace.
His marriage to Dora Greer took place in 1936 at Medford.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Betty, Mrs. Robert Dassow, and
Joyce, Mrs. Carl Balciar, both of Medford, and Joline, at home, and seven
grandchildren. Other survivors include three brothers, Elmer of Black River
Falls, Robert of Warren and Leonard of Beloit.
Two sisters preceded him in death.
