Schroeder, Erna L. (Westrich) (27 APR 1912 - 8 APR 1998)
Erna L. Schroeder, 85, formerly of the Town of Grover, died Wednesday, April 8,
at the home of her daughter in Rapid City, S.D., where she had resided for 11
years.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 13, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran
Church in Medford, with Rev. Roy D. Williams officiating. Burial took place in
Perkinstown Community Cemetery, in the Town of Grover.
Pallbearers were Jerry Krug, Louie Kohn, Bob Drier, Norman Skabroud, Harley
Faude and Duane Schwarz.
The former Erna L. Westrich was born April 27, 1912, in Perkinstown to Phillip
and Dora (Hirte) Westrich Sr. She attended Perkinstown schools. She then worked
in Illinois for a period of time. Her marriage to Raymond “Dutch” Schroeder took
place n December 23, 1935, in St. Paul, Minn.
She and her husband resided in the Town of Grover where she was a housewife and
mother. She also had worked at the City Hotel in Medford for a period of time.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Faye Schroeder of Rapid City; a son, Thomas
(Loretta) Schroeder of Black Hawk, S.D.; three sisters, Gertrude (Lester)
Schwarz of the Town of Grover, Caroline Henry of Jump River and Lillian White of
Mesa, Ariz.; a brother, Phillip (Hazel) Westrich of Medford; four grandchildren;
and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond on April 9, 1987;
one daughter, Marie Volz in 1992; and two sisters, Marie Towne and Dorothy Ogle.
