Haas, Arnold and Marion (25th Anniversary – 14 Apr 1976)
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold (Marion) Haas were honored by their children at Wolf-Olson
Post 1230 Hall, Sheboygan, Saturday, April 10, 1976.
They were married April 14, 1951 at St. Bernard’s Church, Thorp, Wisconsin, by
Rev. Arnold Muckerheide.
Attendants at the wedding and also present for the celebration were Mr. and Mrs.
Elroy Hurth, Cadott, Wis., Mrs. Theresa Smith, Thorp, Wis., Mrs. Larry Anderson,
Cedar Grove, Wis., Mr. Raymond Foster, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Fred Johnson,
Mosinee, Wis.
They have five children, Mrs. Douglas Lindsay (Doreen), Sheboygan, Robert, at
home, Mrs. Michael Rittenhouse (Karen), Grand Forks, North Dakota, Cindy and
Pam, at home. They also have two grandchildren, , Tracy Lindsay and Stacey
Rittenhouse.
Those present were from Thorp, Stanley, Cadott, Milwaukee, Menomonee Falls,
Cedarburg, Cedar Grove, Cleveland, and friends and relatives from around the
Sheboygan area.

Mrs. Charles Stein, 73, 205 Fulton Street, Eau Claire, died Wednesday, April 21,
1976 at her home.
The former Laurel Chaput was born in Eau Claire and married Charles Stein in
1926. She had lived at Owen for 30 years, and returned to Eau Claire in 1965.
Survivors include one brother and three sisters.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Church, with burial in
Owen (Riverside) Cemetery.

Milewski, Joseph (24 Mar 1903 – 28 Apr 1976)
Joseph Milewski, 73, Route 1, Withee, died of an apparent heart attack at 8:45
a.m., April 28, 2976 at his home.
Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in
Owen, with the Rev. Richard Fliss, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Riverside
Cemetery at Withee.
Mr. Milewski was born March 24, 1903 at Westville, Illinois. He married the
former Wanda Klewicki on June 7, 1939 at Withee. He received his education at
the Lone Oak School, near Withee, and farmed at Route 1, Withee for 44 years.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Leo (Lorraine) Hirsch, Park Ridge,
Illinois; five grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Anthony (Frances Fontaine,
Chicago, Illinois, Mrs. Lottie Pernice, Chicago, Illinois, Mrs. Frank (Marie)
Hartowich, Westchester, Illinois, and Mrs. Martin (Lucy) Owsterouski, Detroit,
Michigan; four brothers, Anthony, Owen, Frank, Detroit, Michigan, Stanley,
Chicago, Illinois, and Pete, Milwaukee.

Clark County Extension Homemakers will offer assistance to families in Nicaragua, Central America by donating packets of garden seeds, Mrs. Helen Melin, Route 1, Withee, international program of work chairperson, has announced.
The seeds will be collected International Night, May 12, 1976, at the Clark Electric auditorium in Greenwood.
The International Nigh program scheduled to begin at 7:45 p.m., will feature a potluck dinner. Each club is to bring enough food for members attending. Club members are to bring their own place settings (plate, silverware, cup). Coffee and another beverage will be provided.
Each dish served should be accompanied by both a card listing the country it represents and the recipe, so that a composite of all the international recipes can be compiled.
A series of slides on Nicaragua will also be included on the program.

Services were May 3, 1976 at Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in Owen for Peter Kulik,
71, Withee, who died Friday, April 20, 1976 at his home. Burial was in Riverside
Cemetery.
Mr. Kulik was born in Thorp and married Maria Markowski February 17, 1935 at
Lublin. The couple farmed in the area for many years. After residing in Chicago
15 years, the couple returned here in May of 1975.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Lawrence, Leonard and Gene, all of
Chicago; one brother, Adam, in California; one sister, Mrs. Ralph Lawrence,
Chicago; and four grandchildren.

The Thorp High graduation for the class of 1978 will be held at Thorp High
School on Wednesday, May 26, 1976 at 8:00 p.m. The class consists of 87 seniors.
Rev. John Puerner will diver the invocation and benediction at the ceremony.
The presentation of the Top Ten Awards will be made by Principal of the High
School, Floyd Hanley to Michael Amundson, Peter Baehr, Jill Kluesner, Patricia
Kowieski, Tom Morgan, Carol Niedzwiecki, Mark Osowski, Erik Salander, Lathy
Walczyk and Allan Wojt.
LeRoy Merlak, Superintendent of Schools, will make the presentation of the
class, and Ted Czech, President of the Board of Education, will present the
diplomas.
