Dassow, Alvin B. Sr. (17 APR 1925 - 27 OCT 2012)

Alvin B. Dassow, Sr., 87, of W3889 County Road M, Medford, a township of Greenwood resident, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at his residence in the township of Greenwood under the loving care of his family and Hope Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 31, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Whittlesey, with Rev. Randal Jeppesen officiating. Interment will be at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Whittlesey.

Pallbearers are his grandsons, Jodi, Richard, Jason, Justin, Cody & Dakota Dassow, Travis Bube.

Visitation will be held at 4-8 PM on Tuesday, October 30 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford and also at church from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 31.

Alvin was born on April 17, 1925, at the township of Chelsea, Taylor County, to Henry J. and Bertha (Barkow) Dassow. He received his education at the Frey school, township of Browning.

On January 16, 1954, at Stetsonville, he was married to Mary Drager. She survives.

He logged during his whole life until retirement while residing in the township of Greenwood. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Whittlesey.

Alvin is survived by his wife Mary Dassow, of the township of Greenwood, children Marvin (Joleen) Dassow of the town of Medford; George Dassow of the town of Hammel; Randy (Kathy) Dassow of the town of Greenwood; Brian Dassow of the town of Hammel; Steve Dassow of the town of Rib Lake; Alvin Jr. (Annette) Dassow of Westboro; Kathy (Mark) Kind of Rib Lake; 15 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his siblings, Harold (Mary Ann) Dassow, Sr. of Medford & Arnold Dassow of Medford; Darlene Drager of Medford & Ardella (Herman) Dohrwardt of Medford.

Alvin was predeceased by his parents, Henry J. Bertha (Barkow) Dassow; Brothers Ralph, Donald, Hilbert, Henry, Clarence & Robert Dassow; and a sister, Elaine Gumz.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the family for a future designation.
