Miss Wendy Gardner, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Gardner, rt. 1, Greenwood
(Clark Co., Wis.), was crowned Miss Clark Rural Electrification during the
annual meeting of the cooperative at Greenwood Tuesday. She was crowned by Miss
Susan K. Schraufnagel, who received that honor a year ago and who is now
reigning as Miss Wisconsin Rural Electrification.
Wendy is a graduate of Loyal High School and plans to enter nursing at the
University at Oshkosh this fall.
She was the 1966-67 Loyal Corn Festival Queen, and has played with the Loyal
High School dance band. In addition, she belongs to the All-State Honors Band
and was one of 10 honor students at Loyal High School.
The runner-up is Miss Marilyn Maki, 18, and a 1969 graduate of Owen-Withee High
School. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. William T. Maki, rt. 2, Owen.
Other contestants were Marily Kay Beilke, Granton; Betty Lammey, Granton;
Gwendolyn Jane Klein, Spencer; Betty Ann Gardner, Greenwood; and Susan
Franckowiak, Stratford.
The judges were Jane Swanson and Marge Klumb, Marshfield, and Al Larson, Black
River Falls.
