Miller, Vernon C. (9 JUN 1953 – 9 FEB 2017)

Vernon C. Miller, 63, Greenwood, passed away at his home on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Loyal American Legion on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 1-5 p.m.

Vernon Carl Miller was born on June 9, 1953, in Marshfield, to Elmer and Iris (nee Gorsegner) Miller. He was raised and received his education in the Greenwood area, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1971. After high school, Vern worked for Ray Gardner Construction, Plautz Brothers running the rock crusher, and Trierweiler Ready Mix in Marshfield. He married Barbara A. Goodbrand on Aug. 20, 1976, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Greenwood. Vern went to work for Grassland Dairy Products in Greenwood, where he held various positions, including truck washer, butter maker, plant and transportation manager, and dry storage manager. He retired in 2015. He had many interests, but especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, fishing, hunting, gardening, and being outdoors.

Vern will be dearly missed by his wife, Barbara, of Greenwood; one son: William (Nichole) Miller of Loyal, and their children, Brody and Brook Miller; one brother: Raymond (Mary) Miller of Greenwood; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
