Hendriks, Wanda S. (28 OCT 1921 – 5 FEB 2017)

Wanda S. Hendriks, age 95, of Thorp (Clark Co.), Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. Janusz Kowalski officiated and burial followed at Riverside Cemetery near Withee, WI. Visitation was held at the church on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until time of service.

Wanda Sylvia Kowalkowski was born on October 28, 1921, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Alexander and Frances (Dabkowska) Kowalkowski. When she was a young child, her family moved to Thorp, where she was raised and received her education. Wanda was united in marriage to John Hendriks on November 18, 1939, at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. They operated a dairy farm in the town of Reseburg, where they raised their two daughters. She later worked for Foremost Blue Moon Cheese in Thorp until her retirement. They bought a home in the city of Thorp and lived there until entering Oakbook Health & Rehab in November 2012, where she resided until her death.

She had many interests, but especially enjoyed watching and attending high school football and basketball games, the Packers and fishing.

She was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church and its PCCW, and the Thorp American Legion Auxiliary.

Wanda will be dearly missed by two daughters: Audrey (Ronald) Hinker of Wausau, Virginia Looney of Dallas, TX; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lorraine Alger of Thorp; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, on February 17, 1993; four brothers and one sister.

Wanda's family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful and caring staff at Oakbrook Health & Rehab for the loving and compassionate care shown to her during her stay. It is truly appreciated.
