Twyla Jean Herman of South Milwaukee and George Edward Lato of West Allis were
united in marriage at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 26, 1969 at St. Bernard's
Catholic Church in Thorp.
Rev. Francis Brockman performed the ceremony, including a nuptial Mass.
Twyla is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Herman of Thorp (Clark Co.,
Wis.). George is the son of Katheryn Lato, also of Thorp.
The bride was given in marriage by her father.
The mother of the bride, accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Wm. Boardman, sang
"Ave Maria," "One Hand, One Heart," and "On This Day O Beautiful Mother." The
children's choirs, accompanied by Susan Keating, sang the Mass.
The bride's gown of feather satin with dirndl gathers marked a fitted waistline.
Short sleeves were edged with pearl and lace trim. The same trim edged the
neckline and hemline. A train flowed from the bodice.
The veil, an elbow length illusion sprayed from a Camelot style dap of stain,
pearls and lace. The gown and veil were fashioned by the bride's friend.
She carried a colonial bouquet of stephanotis among blue and white roses.
Mrs. Lynn Rusch of Thorp, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. The other
bridesmaids were Miss Sherry Herman, sister of the bride of Thorp, Mrs. Kathy
Riener, friend of the brides of Midlothian, Ill., Mrs. Raeleen Cloutier, friend
of the bride of Rosemead, Minn., Miss Nancy Meyer, friend of the bride of Eau
Claire.
The attendants' gowns were sleeveless with empire waistlines in early green.
Wide brimmed leghorn hats trimmed in green complemented the gowns. The girls
carried baskets of pastel colored daisies.
Best man was Mr. Edward Lato of Brookfield, Wis., brother of the groom.
Groomsmen were Mr. Leo Lato of Chetek, Wis., brother of the groom, Mr. Bill
Kowfeski of Wausau, Wis., friend of the groom, Mr. Bill Comley of West Allis,
friend of the groom, and Mr. Gary Klewicki of Menomonee Falls, friend of the
groom.
Ushers were Jim Trybula of Milwaukee and Mrs. Scott Rusch of Thorp.
A reception at 4:00 p.m. was followed by dinner at 4:00 p.m. was followed by
dinner at 5:30 p.m., with a dance in the evening. All took place at St. Hedwig's
Quonset Hall.
The bride is a junior in nursing at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. At
present the bride is employed by the South Milwaukee Nursing Home.
The groom attended Wisconsin State University at Stevens Point and the Sales
Training Incorporated of Milwaukee. He is employed by Custom Trim, Inc.
The wedding trip took the couple to Nassau.
They will make their home at 10210 St. Montana Ave. in West Allis, Wis.
