Foremost Blue Moon has received the first place blue ribbon award for Blue
Cheese at the 1969 Milwaukee State Fair. Henry Haas, manager of the local plant,
reports that the first place award has been received three out of the past four
years. The highlight was in 1967, when Blue Moon not only received a blue ribbon
and the Governor's Sweepstake award, but also the highest score of all cheese
entered at the State Fair.
Arthur Jacque, superintendent of the Dairy Plant; Lyle Christensen, quality
control supervisor, and LaVerne Haas, superintendent of the Main Plant, have had
the necessary fine cooperation from fellow employees to make blue ribbon cheese
possible.
In November 1968, Blue Moon began purchasing Class 1, Grade A mile to provide an
adequate supply of top quality milk for increased production and sales. High
quality raw product delivered by our milk producers and service rendered by our
truckers make the blue ribbon production easier. Grade "A" milk is purchased
through the Chicago Federal Milk Market Order.
