Ebben, Roy A. (1909? – 19 AUG 1969)
Funeral services for Roy A. Ebben, personnel director of Kohler Co., who died
unexpectedly Tuesday night, August 19th, 1969, at St. Nicholas Hospital in
Sheboygan following surgery, were held Saturday morning at 10:00 o'clock from
St. John's Evangelist Catholic Church in Kohler, Wis. Interment was in the
Kohler Cemetery.
Ebben was 60 years old. He had been an employee of Kohler Co. since 1944. He had
held the position of personnel director since August 1968, when he succeeded the
late Marvin A. Messner.
Ebben was born in Thorp (Clark Co., Wisconsin). His parents were Mr. and Mrs.
George W. Ebben. He was educated at La Crosse State University, where he was
graduated in 1933. Ebben taught physical education at Marshfield Vocational
School. He joined the Kohler school system in 1934, and remained there until
1944, when he went to Kohler Company.
Ebben was assistant chairman of the company's management committee, and was also
a member of the Kohler Foundation, Inc. He was active in civic affairs and in
scouting, as cub master of Kohler cub Page 31, and as a Kettle Moraine council
delegate at large.
He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth Russell of West Allis; and four
daughters, Mrs. John Berhrendet of Monrovia, Liberia, Mrs. Rod Whittenberg of
Denver, and Ruth Ann, 19, and Katherine, 17, both of whom reside at the family
home in Kohler. A son Russell preceded him in death. There are three grandsons.
Also surviving are three brothers, Leo of Kohler, Lester of Fort Atkinson, and
Delton of Thorp, and two sisters, Mrs. Edwin Primeau of Abbotsford, and Mrs.
Harold Parker of Owen.
