Hospital Corpsman Second Class Allen H. Spaeth, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
J. Spaeth of 130 N. Broadway, Stanley, Wisconsin, is serving aboard the aircraft
carrier USS Ranger. The carrier is preparing for its fifth combat deployment to
Vietnam.
The carrier returned to the U.S. in May. Prior to that she operated on Yankee
Station in the Gulf of Tonkin. She was also part of a task force which steamed
into the Sea of Japan after a U.S. Navy plane had been shot down.
Since returning to the U.S. the carrier has been undergoing overhaul at a
shipyard in San Francisco. She is currently undergoing carrier qualifications
prior to her deployment this fall.
