Allen, Albert A. (1 July 1892 – 23 July 1974)
A Neillsville native, Albert A. Allen, 82, of Wisconsin Rapids, succumbed to a
lingering illness late Tuesday, July 23 at the Veterans Administration Hospital
in Tomah. Military rites were conducted Thursday evening at the Higgins and Sons
Funeral Chapel, where the body was in state. The Rev. Ralph Walker officiated
Friday at the graveside services, which also included Military and Masonic
rites.
Albert Allen, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Orin Allen, was born July 1, 1892, in
Neillsville. His marriage to the former Harriet Moore took place March 15, 1941,
in St. Louis, Mo. He farmed in the Port Edwards area from 1949-1961. Mr. Allen
was a past grand master of Humbird Masonic Lodge No. 119 and was also a member
of Humbird American Legion Post No. 320.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are one son, Arthur S. Allen, St. Louis, Mo.;
three step-daughters, Mrs. Earl Payne, and Mrs. Marian Alvis, Wisconsin Rapids,
and Mrs. John Phillips, Humbird; one step-son, John Moore, Port Edwards; and 14
grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
