Shakal, Joseph T. (09 OCT 1898 – 05 OCT 1909)
Joseph T. Shakal, 70, of 315 34rd Ave., died in his home Sunday evening.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Thursday) in Holy Family
Catholic Church, with Father Donald berg officiating. Burial will be in Sacred
Heart Cemetery at Edson.
Friends may call at the Plombon Funeral Home from noon Wednesday until 11 a.m.
Thursday.
A parish vigil was held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and the Knights of Columbus
recited the rosary at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Christa, Stanley; two sons, James, Carmel,
California; Glenn, Minot, N.D.; a step-son, Clayton Eslinger of Stanley; two
step-daughters, Mrs. Adrian Klemeck, Gilman, Mrs. Donald Gilles, Boyd; two
brothers, Leo, Stanley, Henry, Rt. 1, Cornell; and 20 grandchildren.
Mr. Shakal was born October 9, 1898 in Drywood, near Cadott. He moved to
California where he married Martha Neisius in 1923, and worked as a lineman for
23 years. She died in 1943 and in 1948 he returned to the Boyd area.
He was married May 12, 1949 to Christa Eslinger at Edson. The couple farmed in
the Boyd area until moving to Stanley in 1957. He was a member of Holy Family
Catholic Church, Stanley, and the Emer Quinn Council, Knights of Columbus.
