Karczeuski, Frances M. (13 June 1925 – 18 February 2017)
Frances M. Karczeuski, 91, of rural Buxton, ND, formerly of Wheatland, ND,
passed away Saturday afternoon, Feb. 18, 2017, at Halstad (MN) Living Center
with family present.
Frances Ficht was born June 13, 1925, the daughter of Francis “Frank” and Mary
(Rhode) Ficht. Her early years were spent on the family farm by Brass Ball
Corners, Kenosha, WI. While on the farm her, main responsibility was managing
the chicken and egg business, caring for more than 2,000 birds at a time.
She met and later married Stanley C. Karczeuski on Jan. 24, 1946. Her marriage
lasted for 49 years until Stanley’s passing in December 1995. In 1968, they
moved to Neillsville, WI, to own and operate a dairy farm. Frances loved
gardening and caring for all the farm animals.
Upon retirement, they moved to Truth or Consequences, NM, where she was very
active in the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Auxiliary, both on the local and
state level. One of her fondest memories was giving the keynote speech at the
state DAV convention in 1985. After Stanley’s death, she moved to Wheatland, NC,
to be near family.
Frances is survived by her son Michael (Judi) Karczeuski, daughter Marcia (Arlin)
Hinkelmann, six grandchildren, Melissa, Heather, Miranda, Michelle, Aaron, and
Mickey, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Frances is being cremated, and a graveside service is being planned for later
spring at the Casselton, ND, Cemetery.
