Patricia J. Hmielak, daughter of Mrs. John Hmielak, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.),
became the bride of Raymond J. Maertens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew H. Maertens
of Marshall, Minn., on Saturday, October 4th, 1969 at St. Bernard’s Catholic
Church, Thorp. Rev. Constant Chilicki performed the twelve noon marriage
ceremony and nuptial Mass. Alois Ciolkosz, the bride’s uncle was organist.
The bride, given in marriage by her brother, Robert J. Hmielak, wore a gown of
eggshell polyester designed and fashioned by the bride’s mother. The veil
designed by the bride, was Camelot style in Gregorian lace, and she carried a
bouquet of cymbidiums and eucalyptus.
Mrs. Dale Hokkanen was her sister’s matron of honor, and the bridesmaids were
Mrs. James Beaudette and Mrs. Roger Otto, friends of the bride. They wore
A-style floor length slightly above waist gowns of desert gold. Each carried
bouquets of fall colored mums and thistle.
James Maertens was his brother’s best man, and groomsmen were James Beaudette
and Carl Chalupsky, friends of the groom. Ushers were Wm. Deutz, friend of the
groom, and Allan Bohaboy, cousin of the bride.
After a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin they will make their home at 2930 N.
Douglas Dr., Minneapolis, Minn.
