Verschay, Olive (4 AUG 1915 – 2 MAR 2017)
Olive Verschay, 101, formerly of Willard, passed away on Thursday, March 2,
2017, peacefully at her home. A memorial service will be held at Holy Family
Catholic Church in Willard at a later date.
Olive West was born on Aug. 4, 1915, in Tuscalossa County, Alabama, where she
grew up and was educated. In 1934, she moved to Chicago, where she was employed
by Marshall Field and later, Dr. Scholl Mfg. Co. She married John Verschay on
Aug. 28, 1937, at St. Clements Catholic Church. In 1948, she and her husband
moved to Willard and bought the Verschay family farm, where they farmed until
1970, when they semi-retired and moved to the town of Seif. After her husband’s
death in 1994, she moved to Neillsville and did volunteer work at the Memorial
Nursing Home and The Highground veterans memorial.
She is survived by one foster son, Mike Meke; five nieces; five nephews; special
great nephew, Travis West; and many friends.
