Kadlec, Lorraine R. (6 APR 1933 – 1 MAR 2017)
Lorraine R. Kadlec, 83, Shoreview, Minn., passed away peacefully with family by
her side on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11
a.m., on Monday, March 6, at St. Odilia Catholic Church, Shoreview. A private
family burial was held in Calvary Cemetery.
Lorraine Jordan was born in the town of Hendren, Clark County, on April 6, 1933,
to Ludwig and Elizabeth Jordan. She attended Willard state grade school at
Willard and Greenwood High School. She worked at various places doing
babysitting and house work and also at St Joseph’s Hospital in the housekeeping
department. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville
until 1953. She then moved to St. Paul, Minn., and stayed with her uncle and
aunt, Rudy and Helen Jordan, and worked for Greetings Unlimited card company.
She later worked at St. Paul Fire and Marine where she was introduced to her
husband, Joe. They were married on April 16, 1955. They had four children:
Edward, Kathleen, Kenneth and Colleen. Lorraine was a parishioner of St. Odilia
church since moving to Shoreview in 1963. Lorraine was born to be a care giver.
She started working at Lakeridge Health Care Center as a nursing assistant and
then went to work for Twin City Linnea Home for many years before retiring in
1988. She loved to knit, crochet and sew. Lorraine also liked to make homemade
greeting cards. She would make Christmas cards for the homeless every year and
personally write a message in each one. In the summer you could always find her
in her backyard working in her flower gardens. She loved her flowers and had a
green thumb. Lorraine was also an avid baseball fan and she loved her Minnesota
Twins. She always had a smile for everyone she met. No matter what life threw at
her she would always smile and she was always helping out the less fortunate.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Joseph; her children, Ed, Kathy
(Rodney) Holter and Ken; her grandchildren: Amanda, Nathan and Tim Holter; her
great-grandchildren, Ava and Landon Holter; a sister: Betty Schmidt of Loyal; a
brother: Bill Jordan of Tomah; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and her
special dog, Miley.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Colleen; and her
brother, Rudy Jordan.
