Johnson, Ethel F. (Hodd) (6 JUN 1922 - 21 FEB 2017)

Ethel F. Johnson, age 94, of Owen passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center in Owen surrounded by her loving family under the tender care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Our Father's House in Chili. Pastor Ronald Johnson will officiate. Interment to follow at St. Paul Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery in Curtiss.

Family and friends are welcome from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 2 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.

Ethel was born on June 6, 1922, the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Taylor) Hodd in Stanley. After her high school graduation, she attended cosmetology school. On June 12, 1942, Ethel was united in marriage to Harris A. Johnson in Withee. He preceded her in death in 2004.

Ethel worked for six years as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the pediatric unit at the Stanley Hospital. She was also a beautician in Medford and at the Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center for 17 1/2 years.

Ethel loved camping in the family school bus and later enjoyed their cottage on Mead Lake. She was a member of the Clark County Choraliers and played the organ for over 20 years at the United Methodist Church in Withee. Ethel also was a Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent and the song leader. She was a member of Our Father's House for 14 years. Ethel loved roller skating, swimming, water skiing, building snowmen, snow horses and snow angels and was very fond of cats, dogs and horses.

Ethel is survived by her three children: Pastor Ronald (Deborah) Johnson of Chili, Marlene (Steven) Booher of Marshfield and Diane (Timothy) Stock of Withee; 12 grandchildren: Jonathan (Carri) Johnson, Michelle (Hal) Vage, Dawn (Preston) Wolf, Jim (Timna) Roney, Maranatha (Vince) Elmhorst, Joanna Johnson, Teresa Maynard, Steve N. (Cindy) Booher, Rebecca (Dan) Kempenich, Amy (Ross) Kaz, Autumn Collar and Timothy John Stock, Jr. and 26 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harris and eight brothers and sisters: Etta Johnson, Myrtle Johnson, Fred Hodd, Roy Hodd, Floyd Hodd, Dorothy Bogue, Robert Hodd and Ervine Hodd.

The Johnson Family would like to thank the staff at Clark County Rehab and Living Center for taking wonderful care of our Mother for the last two years!

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center.
