Nikkila, Violet S. (Linden) (27 JAN 1930 - 6 MAR 2017)

Violet S. Nikkila, 87, Town of Ogema, died on Monday, March 6, 2017, at her home under the care of Hope Hospice and surrounded by her family.

She was born on January 27, 1930, in Ogema, the daughter of Victor J. and Signe (Juni) Linden.
She was a lifelong resident of the Ogema area. She attended the Levitt Creek Grade School and was a graduate of the Westboro High School, Class of 1948.

She was married to Melvin Nikkila on March 27, 1948, in Ogema. She remained at her home and raised her 6 children. In her free time she enjoyed the outdoors, feeding and watching her birds and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Westboro.

She is survived by her children: Marlene (Roscoe Skomaroske) Bleck, Phillips, Judy Arkola, Westboro, Diane (Terry) Foster, and Dan (Tammy) Nikkila, all of Ogema, by 15 grandchildren, 34 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Melvin Oct. 7, 2000, by 2 brothers Alvin and Reynold, by 1 infant brother Carl, by 2 sons: Ronnie and Larry, by 1 grandson Lonnie Bleck, and 2 Sons-In-Law Marvin Arkola and Gene Bleck.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the First Lutheran Church, Ogema, with Pastor Robert Giese officiating. Interment will be in the Levitt Creek Cemetery, Town of Hill.

Pallbearers are to be her grandsons: Cory and Joey Bleck, Ron Arkola, Troy, Todd, Derek, and Travis Foster, and Tyler and Brent Nikkila.

Friends may call after 9:00 A.M. at the church until the time of the service.

The Heindl Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
