Verschay, Olive (4 August 1915 – 2 March 2017)
Olive Verschay, 101, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017, peacefully at her
home.
Olive (West) Verschay was born Aug. 4, 1915 in Tuscaloosa County, AL, where she
grew up and was educated. In 1934, she moved to Chicago, IL, where she was
employed by, Marshall Field and later, Dr. School Mfg. Co. she married John
Verschay Aug. 28, 1937, at St. Clements Catholic Church. In 1948, she and her
husband moved to Willard and bought the Verschay family farm, where they farmed
until 1970, when they semi-retired and moved to the Town of Seif.
After her husband’s death in 1994, she moved to Neillsville and did volunteer
work at the Memorial Nursing Home and the Veterans Memorial Highground.
One foster son survives her Mike Meke, five nieces, five nephews, special
great-nephew Travis West, and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard later.
