Kodl, Valeria V. (5 JUL 1927 – 24 FEB 2017)
Valeria V. Kodl, age 89, of Stanley (Chippewa Co.), WI, passed away Friday,
February 24, 2017, at Miller Alternative Care in Thorp (Clark Co., WI). Funeral
services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017, at St. Bernard-St.
Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. Charles Hiebl officiated and burial
followed in the New St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was held on
Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Thorp Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a 7:30
rosary service. Visitation was held at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until
time of service.
Valeria V. Twarowski was born on July 5, 1927, in the town of Reseburg, rural
Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), to John and Bernice (Kowieski) Twarowski. She was
raised on the family farm and received her education at Thorp area schools.
After completing her education, Valeria worked at the Ehlert Cheese Factory for
a few years. She then was united in marriage to Emil Kodl on April 26, 1947, at
St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. In 1950 they bought a farm in the Town of
Thorp, which they operated until Emil's death in 1989. Valeria continued to live
on the farm until entering Miller Alternative Care in May 2016, where she
resided until her death.
She enjoyed working outdoors in her flower gardens and her yard. She also
enjoyed listening to polka music and going to weddings and dances.
Valeria was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church and its Parish
Council of Catholic Women.
She is survived by one son, Ted Kodl, of Stanley; two sisters, Mary Jurgens of
Rockford, IL, and Loretta Nole of Chicago, IL.; many nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
Valeria was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emil, on January 5,
1989; her daughter, Shari V. Kodl, on July 10, 2013; one sisters, Martha Armades;
and five brothers, Walter, Joseph, Louis Casimir and Leon Twarowski.
