Red carnations and white gladiolas were on the altar of St. Hedwig's Chapel, Thorp, for the marriage of Miss Janice Kay Gosse and Ronald C. Cerven on Saturday, October 25th, 1969. Father William Matzek performed the one p.m. marriage ceremony. Organist was Robin Huls, and the Girls from St. Hedwig's Choir sang.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Victor Gosse, Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.) and Mr. and Mrs. James Cerven, Withee (Clark Co.).

The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a traditional bridal gown of all rosepoint lace over taffeta, styled with a molded bodice having a natural waistline and a scalloped beaded Sabrina neckline. The long sleeves tapered to points over the wrists where they were secured. The very bouffant skirt shirred at the waistline was fashioned with a mock divided skirt, effected by borders of beaded larger patterned lace. The detachable course train extended from the shoulders into a full circular chapel sweep trimmed with a ruffle of the larger patterned lace and also edged with the same lace. The semi-waterfall bouffant veil of illusion was secured to a pearl and crystal crown, and she carried a cascade bouquet of red and white roses with lilies of the valley.

Alice Cerven, Denver, Colorado, was maid of honor, and bridesmaids were Mrs. Ronald (Elaine) Gosse, Abbotsford, Mrs. Barney (Donna) Roytek, Curtiss, Mrs. Jerry (Margie) Cerven, Stillwater, Minn., and Miss Susie Laabs, of Wausau. They donned apricot floor length gowns of Karate. Styling features of the bodice were elbow length sleeves and a wedding ring collar, all trimmed with Venice lace over green taffeta. The empire waistline trimmed with the same lace was fashioned as a jacket and decorated with a large self-fabric panel at the back of the A-line gowns. A short bouffant four-tiered veil was secured to a headpiece of horsehair braid crowns with lace petals encircled with pearls, and having crystal spikes at center front. Each carried bouquets of apricot roses and carnations with green velvet streamers.

Sylvester Harycki was best man, and groomsmen were Ronald Gosse, Barney Roytek, Jerry Cerven, and Jack Mildbrand, Curtiss. Ushers were Floyd Stecker and Walter Juzwiak Jr.

A reception followed the ceremony at Club 73, Thorp, and a supper and dance were held at the Owen Legion Hall.

The bride is a1965 graduate of Abbotsford High School. The groom is a 1966 graduate of Owen-Withee High School, and is the owner and operator of Club 73, Thorp.

Out of town guests were from Denver, Colo., Stillwater, Minn., Cloquet, Minn., Chicago, Ill., Milwaukee, Superior, Ashland, Taylor, Wausau, Thorp, Stanley, Withee, Owen, Abbotsford, Curtiss and Dorchester.
