Sloniker, Delbert R. (24 JUN 1925 – 9 MAR 2017)
Delbert R. Sloniker, 91, of Medford, passed away Thursday, March 9 at his
residence in the City of Medford and under the loving care of his family and
Hope Hospice.
Delbert was born June 24, 1925 in Greenwood (Clark Co.), WI to Ross and Mildred
(Schneider) Sloniker. He attended Greenwood elementary schools and was a 1943
graduate of Greenwood High School.
On June 24, 1949 Delbert married Shirley Ann Schaefer at Trinity Lutheran Church
in Loyal, WI.
Delbert is survived by his Wife: Shirley of Medford, Children: Susan L. Sloniker
of Hazelhurst, WI & Gary (Cynthia) Sloniker of Spooner, WI, 2 Grandchildren:
Sara (Tom) Kiral of Lewiston, MN & Michelle (Housni) Kabdi of Spooner, 4
Great-Grandchildren: Emma & Maddie Kiral, Zak & Eli Kabdi, and 1 Brother: Edward
(Florence) Sloniker of Abbotsford.
He is preceded in death by his Parents, Son Mark Sloniker in 2000, and Brothers
Verlyn and Kenneth Sloniker.
He worked as a cheesemaker for a period of time while residing in Greenwood &
Willard. In 1956 he moved to Stetsonville and managed Farmers Pride Cheese
Factory from 1956-1968. He then moved to Medford in 1968 and worked as a federal
inspector inspecting cheese & butter for the USDA until retirement in 1986. He
enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, deer hunting, playing cards, 4 wheeling and
playing checkers with his great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Delbert will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday March 18, 2017
at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. Richard Russow will officiate. Burial
of cremated remains will follow at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Visitation
will be held at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church from 10:00 AM until the time of service
at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to the
family for designation at later date.
Hemer Funeral Service of Medford and Rib Lake has been entrusted with
arrangements.
