Hoffmann, Delmor Wesley (16 MAY 1927 - 19 FEB 2017)
Delmor Wesley Hoffmann, 89, died Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Benedictine Living
Center in Wausau, under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.
He was born May 16, 1927 in Rib Falls township, Marathon County, to Wesley and
Agnes (Erdmann) Hoffmann. He graduated from Marathon High School in 1945. Delmor
served in the United States Army from January 1953 through December 1954. He was
stationed in Hokkaido, Japan as part of the post World War II Occupation. On
June 29, 1963, he married Laurel June Curtis at Wesley Methodist Church in
Wausau, Wisconsin.
Delmor was a carpenter, building homes in Wausau and later as a union carpenter
on projects such as the Aspirus Hospital complex, Highway 51 bridges over Lake
DuBay and the UW Marathon County campus. He remodeled the former Rib View School
in the town of Stettin, which was their home for nearly 52 years.
Delmor was a charter member of the Pommerscher Verein of Central Wisconsin and
excelled at using the Platt Deutsch (Low German) language. He was a life member
of the Marathon County Genealogical Society.
Survivors include, his wife; sister, LaVern (Marvin) Machel; brother, Arden
(Molly) Hoffmann; seven nieces and nephews; 13 grand-nieces and grand-nephews;
and sisters-in-law, Helen Weber and Anne (Robert) Oelke.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Rib Falls
Methodist Church, 154 E. 19th Street, Marathon, with full military honors
conducted by the American Legion, Marathon and the Veterans of Foreign Wars,
Marathon. Rev. Tim Gurlea will officiate. Visitation will be on Tuesday from
9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
