Sloniker, Delbert Ross (24 JUN 1925 - 9 MAR 2017)
Delbert Ross Sloniker, 91 of 544 Shattuck Street, Medford, passed away on
Thursday, March 9, 2017, at his residence in the City of Medford under the
loving care of his family and Hope Hospice.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 18 at Zion Ev. Lutheran
Church, Stetsonville, with Rev. Richard Russow officiating. Interment of his
cremated remains will be at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II
Visitation will be at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville from 10 AM until
the time of services at 11 AM on Saturday, March 18.
Delbert was born on June 24, 1925, at Greenwood, WI, to Ross Sherman and Mildred
M. (Schneider) Sloniker. He attended Greenwood elementary schools and was a 1943
graduate of Greenwood High School.
On June 24, 1949, Delbert married Shirley Ann Schaefer at Trinity Lutheran
Church, Loyal. She survives.
He worked as a cheesemaker for a period of time while residing in Greenwood &
Willard. In 1956 he moved to Stetsonville and managed Farmers Pride Cheese
Factory from 1956-1968. Moved to Medford in 1968 and he worked as a federal
inspector inspecting cheese & butter for the USDA until retirement in 1986. He
enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, deer hunting, playing cards, 4 wheeling and
playing checkers with his great grandchildren. Delbert was a member of Zion Ev.
Lutheran Church, Stetsonville.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley A. Sloniker, Medford; children Susan L.
Sloniker of Hazelhurst, WI; Gary (Cynthia) Sloniker of Spooner, WI; two
grandchildren, Sara (Tom) Kiral of Lewiston, MN; Michelle (Housni) Kabdi of
Spooner; four great-grandchildren, Emma & Maddie Kiral, Zak & Eli Kabdi; and one
brother, Edward (Florence) Sloniker of Abbotsford.
Delbert is predeceased by his parents, Ross Sherman and Mildred M. (Schneider)
Sloniker; a son, Mark Sloniker in 2000; brothers Verlyn & Kenneth Sloniker.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be given to
the family for a future designation.
