Thiede, Ralph K. (6 JUN 1935 - 11 DEC 2010)

Ralph K. Thiede, 75, of 408 E. County Road A, Stetsonville, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, palliative care unit, where he had been a patient for the past 2 weeks following a battle with cancer.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 18 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford where there will also be military rites performed by the Stetsonville American Legion Military Honors Team. Father Gali Show Reddy will officiate, interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, township of Little Black.

Visitation will be at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford from 9:00 AM until time of memorial services at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 18.

Ralph was born on June 6, 1935, at the township of Hammel, to Ralph Ernest and Vearl Theresa (Hoffman) Thiede. He attended Meadowbrook grade school, township of Hammel; and was a 1954 graduate of Medford High School.

On October 10, 1959, Ralph married Marcia “Marcy” M. Danen, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Stetsonville. She survives.

After his education he served in the US Marines 1954-1956 during the Korean Conflict. After the military, he did logging work, worked at Frischmann’s Garage, Ruesch Furniture & Frey Flooring for periods of time. From 1967 until retirement in 1997 he owned & operated Ralph’s Carpet Service. They also operated a turkey farm in the township of Deer Creek for a period of time. He took care of the Legion ballpark beer stand in Stetsonville for 10 years, and the Centennial Community Center, Stetsonville storage unit from 1998 to the present time. He enjoyed making firewood and watching the birds.

Ralph was a member of Boxrucker-Berry American Legion Post #519, Stetsonville, Klossner-Dietzler VFW Post #5729, Medford, Badger State Disabled American Veterans, Centennial Community Center, Stetsonville.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia “Marcy” M. Thiede; children Todd Thiede of Milwaukee; Gary Thiede of Logan, Utah; Jodi Thiede of San Diego, CA; Kaye Thiede of Fond du Lac.

Ralph is also survived by siblings, Lester (Louella) Thiede; Gene (Sharon) Thiede; and Sister-in-law: Marvel Thiede of Medford.

He is predeceased by his parents, Ralph Ernest Vearl Theresa (Hoffman) Thiede and a brother, Kenneth Thiede in 2009.

The family would like to invite everyone to a celebration of Ralph’s life and luncheon to be held from noon until 4 PM at the Centennial Community Center, Stetsonville.
