Motchenbacher, Joseph (13 JAN 1883 – 16 JAN 1972)
Joseph Motchenbacher, 89, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.0, died at 2:00 p.m. Sunday,
January 16, 1972 at the Marshfield Convalescent Home.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 19, 1972, at the
Roycraft Funeral Home, with burial in the Loyal Cemetery. The Rev. Gene Carlson
officiated at the services.
Joseph Motchenbacher was born January 13, 1883 in Arcadia, Wisconsin. As a small
child he moved to Clark County on a farm.
He was married to Emma Pagelsdorf in 1911, who preceded him in death May 4,
1958. He was married to Lena Thums on October 10, 1959 at Loyal, who survives
him.
After his marriage he farmed in the Town of Loyal for a few years, then moved to
the city of Loyal and worked for McGonigal Hardware. He then moved to near
Marshfield on a farm, and then back to Loyal. He was employed at the Fair Store
in Marshfield until his retirement.
Joseph Motchenbacher attended the United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Myron (Audrey) Goetz, Grafton,
Wisconsin; two step-daughters, Mrs. Marcella Berry, Marshfield, and Mrs. Karl
(Dottie) Rice; one step-son, Verland Thums, Gold Hill, Oregon; two
grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
