Wall, Ellis “Todd” F. (13 December 1930 – 12 March 2017)
Ellis “Todd” F. Wall, 86, of Neillsville passed away at his home Sunday, March
12, 2017. He was cared for at home by his wife, with help from his daughter and
son per his wishes.
Todd was born Dec. 13, 1930, in Neillsville, the son of Fred and Laura
(Lautenbach) Wall. He graduated from Neillsville High School in 1949. In 1950,
he was joined in marriage to the former Patricia A. Mattson.
Todd worked at Wall’s Service Station all his life and took over the business
from his father in 1971. Music was a very important part of Todd’s life,
especially classical music. He sang in the United Church of Christ choir for
over 60 years, and sang in the Marshfield Chamber Chorale, and the Clark County
Male Chorus. Many people in the community fondly remember Todd singing a solo at
church for their family member’s funeral or wedding.
Todd was an outdoorsman at heart, and over the years, he tended beautiful flower
and vegetable gardens. He took many canoe trips into wilderness areas of Canada
and on two occasions traveled to Canada to view polar bears. In the summer, he
fished the waters of Wisconsin and Minnesota, and in the winter, was
particularly passionate about ice fishing. Todd taught himself fly tying and how
to play the guitar. His family has many examples of stained glass art he
crafted. Todd was a past member of the Lion’s Club and was a library board
member for nine years. He was president of the board during the library
expansion in the late 1990s. Todd will be warmly remembered by those with whom
he fished and shared campfires. He will be sorely missed by his sheepshead
playing buddies, and will be remembered as a kind and compassionate person to
all who knew him.
Todd is survived by his wife Patricia, son Eugene Wall (Grace) of Madison,
daughter Pamela Stitt (Kevin) of Neillsville, sister Susan Stoughton of Mondovi
and by four grandchildren, Elliot, Kayla, and Jodi Stitt, and Carmen Wall.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a son, Robert Wall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the United Church of Christ in
Neillsville or to the Clark County Humane Society.
A Celebration of Todd’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017, at
the United Church of Christ in Neillsville. Pastor Jacoba Koppert will
officiate. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017, at the United
Church of Christ.
