Hack, Rufus Alfred Richard Joseph (21 FEB 1929 - 21 FEB 2017)
Rufus Alfred Richard Joseph Hack passed away on Feb. 16, 2017.
Rufus, better know as “Lucky,” was born on Feb. 21, 1929, to Joseph and Martha
Hack. He grew up in Marathon with his five brothers and one sister. After high
school, he joined the Army and was deployed to Korea, Japan and Guam. He proudly
fought for his country during the Korean War.
After being discharged from the Army as a Sergeant Major, he went to work at
Wells Fargo Bank in San Francisco where he met his beautiful wife-to-be,
Marchita. They married and settled in San Bruno, Calif., where they raised their
two daughters, Lissa and Lora. Lucky had a total of six grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
Lucky was a wonderful husband and father who spent his free time telling jokes
and sharing stories with the ones he loved. Every year Lucky and Marchita
visited their family in Wisconsin and Oklahoma. Lucky was known as the candyman
to the kids; he always carried candy in his car trunk and gum in his pockets. He
even had dog treats in the trunk and the dogs came running. Lucky had a heart of
gold and will live on in the many special memories that we all share.
Lucky is survived by his wife, Marchita Hack; his daughters, Lissa Marks and
Lora Brenner, and their families; and his sister, Irene Karlen.
