Fink, Janet Anna (Gumz) (28 FEB 1937 - 26 MAR 2017)

Janet A. Fink Age 80, of Colby, passed away peacefully with family at her bedside on Saturday, March 18, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Peace United Church of Christ in Dorchester with Rev. Doris Ruben officiating. A private committal service for Janet will be held a later date.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the church in Dorchester on Saturday from 11AM until time of services. The honor of pallbearer belongs to her Great Grandchildren: Anthony, Lilyanna, Nolan, Hannah, Jaden, Elizabeth, Emilia, Kassidy, Sajid and Alayna.

Janet was born February 28, 1937 in Dorchester to Herman and Martha (Blasel) Gumz. She was united in marriage to Donald W. Fink at Peace United Church of Christ in Dorchester on June 30, 1956. Together they owned and operated both a hobby farm and D&D Tree Farms located in rural Colby. Sadly, Donald passed away on August 10, 2012.

To know Janet was to know of her dedication to the work ethic. She was employed at various businesses in the area including The Casa Grande Steak House formerly located in Abbotsford, The House of David, The Patio Restaurant in Marshfield, Modern Sleep in Unity which later became Modern of Marshfield, Meadow Farms Restaurant in Abbotsford, Welcome Dairy in Colby and Fiskars formerly in Spencer. With her gifted and talents hands, Janet created beautiful ceramic pieces which she shared with her family and friends, made delicious wedding cakes for her children’s weddings, crocheted and quilted warm blankets, made the pages come alive in her adult coloring books and carefully tending to her flower beds and vegetable gardens. Janet even looked forward to some pan fishing when she could get away. She was a longtime member of Peace United Church of Christ in Dorchester.

Survivors include her two daughters: Debra Koncel of Dorchester and Linda (Doug) Neumann of Unity, one son Doug (Marie) Fink of Weyeuwega, her eight grandchildren: Cathy, Kenny, Amanda, Mike, Jeff, Jenny, Jacob and Monica; her 17 great grandchildren: Elizabeth, Emilia, Jonah, Kassidy, Anthony, Lilyanna, Nolan, Bailee, Cason, Hannah, Jaden, Sajid, Madison, Alayna, Kaysa, Harrison and Jackson; two brothers-in-law: Arnold (Sandy) Fink of Arvada, CO and James Apfelbeck of Park Falls; one sister-in-law Donna Mae Fink of Plover. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers: Lester and Herbie and a sister Dorothy in infancy.

In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting memorials in Janet’s name to Peace United Church of Christ or Clark County Humane Society.

The family extends their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the care givers and neighbors for their care and expressions of love, also to the staff of Aspirus Comfort Care for the assistance and support in caring for their mother Janet. Arrangements are under the care of Life Tributes Funeral Home and Cremation Services-Spencer.
