Fuchs, Gene Henry (18 FEB 1962 - 20 MAR 2017)
Gene Henry Fuchs left his earthly body to be with his savior on Monday, March
20, 2017, where he passed at home in Burlington, Colo.
Gene had fought his battle with cancer for the past 15 months, and although he
might have lost that battle, his true passion was being a Warrior for Christ,
which he won. Funeral mass of resurrection will be held on Saturday, April 1 at
10 a.m. at Burlington High School in Burlington, Colo., The rosary will be held
on Friday, March 31 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in
Burlington, Colo. Graveside committal service will be held on Saturday, April 1
at 11:30 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Burlington, Colo.
Gene was born in Medford to Teresa and Donald Fuchs on Oct. 18, 1962. Gene moved
to Colorado after he had traveled the panhandle on a harvest crew when he was in
college, and upon graduating from University of Eau Claire, he loaded up and
Burlington RE6-J was his first interview. When he got out of his interview with
Limon school district, Burlington was calling to offer a job. Gene took the job
in 1984 and taught mathematics for RE6J till the spring of 1992. During his time
with the high school, he was named "Teacher of the Year" coached, volleyball,
football and of course wrestling.
He met his wife, Judith, of 29 years and they were married on Aug, 20, 1988. Out
of this union came life and love with daughters, Tasha Marie and Tina Mae. He
worked for Mutual of Omaha (where he was named top gun agent of the year) and 5
Star Feeders before working for Midwest Farms until his passing. Gene was a
devoted husband, father and friend.
He was a member of St. Catherine's of Siena and the Knights of Columbus, where
he served in all the organizations roles including grand knight for many years.
Gene loved sharing his faith and he found this easy to do through acts of
kindness while serving others. He was the president of the Burlington Wrestling
Club from inception till his passing, it was his passion. He served as the youth
leader at St. Catherine's of Siena for over 15 years, leading many young adults
through their walk of faith and education. You could never deny his love for the
state of Wisconsin and although he was not a man of technology was often texting
others when Green Bay was playing and loved his Sundays spent sharing the
triumphs and defeats of his home state teams with close friends at the
Amundson's home.
Gene left to mourn his passing wife, Judith, daughters Tasha and husband Tyler
Flock of Bird City, Kan. and Tina and husband Andrew Foth of Akron, Colo; his
grandchildren, Bentley Bezingue, Westley Foth and Taya Flock; his father and
step-mother, Donald and Enid Fuchs of Medford and mother, Teresa McGuire of
Medford; and mother-in-law, Betty Spencer of Burlington; siblings, Gary (Tami)
Fuchs, Daniel (Tracy) Fuchs, Jayne (Bruce) Strama, Mary Ellen (Lyn) Nernberger,
