Kleinschmidt, Walter (8 DEC 1899 – 01 APR 1972)

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Jasperson Funeral Home for Walter Kleinschmidt, 72, route 2, Colby, who died Saturday at the Marshfield Convalescent Center, where he had resided for the past three months. The Rev. Bernie Scott, pastor of the Spencer United Methodist Church, officiated, and burial was made in the West Spencer Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Randy Kenyon, Kenneth Kenyon, James Morrison, Wayne Wienke, Richard Wienke, and Stanley Voelker. Mrs. Norman Kasper sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Rock of Ages," accompanied by Mrs. Darrell Roder at the organ.

Mr. Kleinschmidt was born December 8, 1899 in Springfield, Illinois, and received his education there. He was married in Spencer on February 17, 1926, to Helen Kenyon. The couple farmed near Riplinger for many years. In 1961 they moved to Ogema, and about two years ago moved to Colby to reside with a daughter.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Fred Seeger, Lake City, Minnesota, and Mrs. Ben Clarkson, route 2, Colby; a son, Delmar Kleinschmidt, route 1, Loyal; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Carl, Decatur, Illinois, and William, Route 1, Loyal; and a sister, Mrs. Hilda Hallowell, Friendship.

He was preceded in death by a son, a sister, and a brother.
