Funeral services for Mrs. William Roth, Colby, who died at her home February
4th, 1960, were held on Sunday at 2 o’clock at the First Methodist Church,
Colby, with the Reverend David Passet officiating. Interment followed in the
Colby Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gust Boehm, Art Kumbier, Ray Marsh, Dr. W. Payne, Alvin Schmidt
and Herman Vircks.
Mrs. Roth was born Linda Wendel, on August 20, 1884, in Spencer. She was married
there to William Roth, on August 31, 1904. They lived in Spencer a few years and
then moved to a farm in the Town of Hull, Marathon County. Thirty years ago,
they moved to Colby.
Mrs. Roth underwent major surgery last August and death occurred Thursday,
caused by cancer. Mrs. Roth was 75 years of age.
She is survived by two sons, Floyd of Chicago and Roland of Abbotsford, two
daughters, Mrs. W. G. (Irene) Danielson of Abbotsford and Mrs. E. J. (Norma)
Schmidt of Columbia, S. C., five grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Hulda Heintz of
Colby.
She was preceded in death by her husband, on April 14, 1956, and by one brother
and one sister.
Those attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Danielson, Mr. and Mrs.
Roland Roth, Abbotsford, Mr. E. J. Schmidt, Columbia, S. C., Mr. and Mrs. Floyd
Roth, Kenneth Gates, Russell Holmes, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Broeker, Chicago, Miss
Sandra Danielson, Eau Claire, Miss Nancy Roth, Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Gates, Schofield, Mrs. Lynn Catlin and Mrs. Douglas Marshall, Wisconsin Rapids,
Mrs. Otto Heintz, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Coates, Mrs. Myrtle Rein, M. and Mrs. Dale
Reis, Colby, Mrs. Herman Borchardt, Edgar, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hein, Nichols, Mr.
and Mrs. Elmer Knickle, Appleton, George Tubbs, Seymour, and Mr. and Mrs. John
Lawrence, Urbana, Ill.
