Busse, Marvin O. (21 AUG 1931 - 1 APR 2017)

Marvin O. Busse, age 85, of Colby, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield surrounded by his loving family.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford. Rev. Don Bruce will officiate. Interment will follow at Abbotsford Public Cemetery.

Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the Church.

Marvin was born August 21, 1931 the son of Otto and Lorentina (Scheelk) Busse in the Town of Holton. He graduated from Dorchester High School in 1949. On September 23, 1950, Marvin was united in marriage to Carol Miller at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Green Grove.

Together they farmed in the Town of Mayville for over 50 years. Marvin was a member of Christ Lutheran Church for many years and served as the council president. He also served on the Abbotsford School Board for 30 years, including serving as president for 27 years. Marvin also served on the CESA 10 Board for many years. Through his volunteerism, he touched countless lives. Marvin was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Packers, Badgers and Brewers. He especially enjoyed playing sheepshead and pinochle with family and friends. Most importantly, Marvin cherished his family.

Marvin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carol of Colby; eight children: Susan (Steven) Buchholz of New Franken, Rev. Robert (Carol) of Princeton, Wayne (Laura) of Amery, Brian (Julie) of Suamico, Barry (Marge) of Rib Mountain, Steven (Kelly) of Prescott, Sharri (TJ) Stroinski of Abbotsford and Kristi (Chuck) Tlusty of Medford; 13 grandchildren and 11
great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother Ronald (Helen) Busse of Dorchester;
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Lorentina; his sister, Carol Palchik and his grandson, Shawn Buchholz.

In lieu of flowers and plants, the family requests memorials to Christ Lutheran Church.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Saint Joseph's Hospital, especially the staff in Palliative Care for their wonderful care and compassion bestowed upon Marvin.
