Kramer, Gladys Ellen (Kath) (1921? - 5 APR 2017)
Gladys Ellen Kramer, 96, widow of Arvin F. Kramer, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017
at Emerald Gardens Assisted Living, Greenwood, SC.
Born in Mason City, Iowa, she was a daughter of the late Otto and Bertha (Krabbenhoft)
Kath. In 1951, she and her husband purchased Abby Cafe, which they operated for
16 years. Following the sale of the cafe, they built The Flame Supper Club and
later they owned and operated the Home Motel for 11 years. She was a lifelong
member of Christ Lutheran Church, Abbotsford, WI.
Surviving are her children, Dwight Kramer (Nancy) of Abbotsford, WI and Cheryl
Readett (Glen) of Greenwood, SC; sisters, Loraine Schiltz (Fred) of Westlake
Village, CA and June Lilke of Grandforks, ND; brothers, Otis Kath of Loyal, WI
and Walda Kath of Rudolph, WI; two grandsons, Nathan Backus of Statesboro, GA
and Ryan Backus (Heather) of Evans, GA; one
granddaughter, Rachel Kramer of Appleton, WI; one great granddaughter, Sutton
Backus of Evans, GA; and one great grandson, Bennett Backus of Evans, GA.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her
sisters, Esther Quast and Caroline Sornson; sister-in-law, Arlyle Kath; and
brother-in-laws, Olin Sornson, Vernon Lilke, and Herbert Quast.
Visitation with the family will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April
24, 2017 followed by a memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Christ
Lutheran Church, Abbotsford, WI with Pastor Don Bruce officiating. Interment
will follow in Abbotsford Public Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Hospice Care of South Carolina for their caring
support. A special thank you is extended to the staff of Emerald Gardens for
their loving care provided to Gladys in the Memory Care Unit over the past three
years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 326
Montague Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29649.
Both Harley Funeral Home and Crematory, Greenwood, SC and Maurina-Schilling
Funeral Home, Abbotsford, WI are assisting the family.
