Jerome P. Bucheger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bucheger of Rt. 3, Greenwood
(Clark Co.), Wis., has been recognized as an Outstanding U.S. Air Force
Reserved Officers Training Corps (AFROTC) cadet at the University of Wisconsin
at Superior.
He received the AFROTC Superior Performance Ribbon and the AFROTC
Extra-Curricular Activities Distinguished Participation Ribbon.

Jerome P. Bucheger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Bucheger of Rt. 1 Greenwood,
recently completed an air force reserve officers training corps field training
encampment at Wright-Patterson AFB, Oh. During the encampment, cadets become
familiar with the life and activities on air force bases and can examine careers
in which they may wish to serve as officers. They also received survival
training, aircraft and aircrew indoctrination, small arms training and visited
other air force bases. Cadet Bucheger is a member of the unit at the University
of Wisconsin-Superior. He is a 1971 graduate of Greenwood High School. His wife,
Judy, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gardner of Rt. 1 Withee.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bucheger went to Superior Friday where they attended
graduation exercises at University, where their son, Jerome, was commissioned a
Second Lieutenant in the Air Force. Jerome graduated with a B.S. Psychology
degree.

Second Lieutenant Jerome P. Bucheger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Bucheger,
Rt. 1 Greenwood, has been named “Outstanding Junior Officer of the Quarter” in
his unit at Nellis AFB, Nev.
Lieutenant Bucheger, an aircraft maintenance officer, was selected for exemplary
leadership, devotion to duty and professional performance. The lieutenant is a
member of the Tactical Air Command.
The lieutenant, a 1971 graduate of Greenwood High School, received his B.S.
degree in 1975 from UW-Superior, where he was commissioned through the Air Force
Reserve Officer Training Corps program. His wife, Judy, is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Gardner of Rt. 1 Withee.

Bucheger, Captain Jerome P. (Service Notes - 1980)
Now wearing the U.S. Air Force silver wings is Captain Jerome P. Bucheger, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Bucheger, Greenwood. The wings signify graduation from
pilot training at Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma, which qualifies Bucheger to
fly the T-38 plane at Vance. A 1971 graduate of Greenwood High School, Bucheger
earned a bachelor’s degree in 1975 from the UW-Superior, and he was commissioned
through the ROTC program. His wife, Judy, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Gardner, Thorp.

Jerome Bucheger has recently been awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal in recognition of his superior performance while assigned to his previous duty station. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bucheger, Route 1, Greenwood.
