He attended St. Anthony Catholic School and Athens High School followed by

Floyd was passionate about many things including the way he served his
community. He acted as a volunteer firefighter in Athens for 43 years, was an
active member of the Athens Village Board in various positions for 16 years, and
also dedicated his time as a member of the Athens Cemetery Association.
Floyd was also an avid sportsman and outdoorsman, part of many hunting and
fishing crews which included his nephews and cousins of the extended Braun
family. He particularly enjoyed goose and pheasant hunting. After he retired
from his business, he and Sophie traveled the country in their RV and spent
several winters in Arizona and Texas.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost 63 years, Sophie; his daughter, Anne
Marie (Patrick Hernandez) Braun of Wauwatosa; four siblings, David Braun of
Stevens Point, Roger (Mary) Braun of Milwaukee, Margaret (Roger) King of Green
Bay and Paul (Janet) Braun of Janesville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mildred
Hart of Athens, Leona Hart of Wittenberg, Ray (Kathy) Hart of Ames, Iowa, and
Rose (Jerry) Edwards of Green Valley, Ariz. Additionally, Floyd is survived by
many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Edward John;
brother, Father Michael Braun; sisters-in-law, Leona Braun, Sister Mary Bertilia
Hart, Anne Kwiecinski, Agnes Hoth, Frances Albrecht, Adeline Hart and Pat Hart;
and brothers-in-law, Joe Hart, John Hart, Matt Kwiecinski, Doug Albaugh, George
Hoth, Adrian Albrecht, Ed Hart and Greg Hart.
Visitation will be on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at St. Anthony Catholic Church
in Athens from 10 a.m. till noon. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated
at noon, presided by Father George Graham. Lunch to follow Mass. Concluding this
celebration of Floyd’s life will be final interment at the Edward and Celia
Braun family plot at Calvary Cemetery in Athens.
