Dums, Hilda L. (Kreuscher) (19 SEP 1931 - 20 APR 2017)
Hilda L. Dums, 85, of N6642 Sugarbush Road, Rib Lake, passed away on Thursday,
April 20, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she had been a
patient for the past 3 weeks.
The funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 26 at Good
Shepherd Catholic Church, Rib Lake, with Father Otto Bucher officiating.
Interment will follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Township of Greenwood.
Visitation will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Rib Lake from 4 – 7 PM
on Tuesday, April 25 where there will be a 7 PM Catholic rosary service held
that evening; and also from 9:30 AM until the time of services at 11 AM on
Wednesday, April 26.
Hilda was born on September 19, 1931, at the Township of Hammel, to Herman and
Lena (Homann) Kreuscher. She attended the Town of Hammel elementary grade
school. On June 14, 1958, she married Bernard H. Dums, at St. Ann’s Catholic
Church, Town of Greenwood. He preceded her in death December 19, 2008.
Hilda grew up on the family farm in the Town of Hammel for 15 years and then
moved to another farm in the Town of Molitor where she worked as janitor of the
Pine Tree School for 10 years. She then met the love of her life, Bernard Dums.
They operated a dairy farm in the Town of Greenwood and raised Christmas trees
in the Rib Lake area for a period of years. She loved gardening, cooking, making
wreaths, polka music and just staying at home with her family. She was a member
of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Rib Lake, Chelsea Conservation Club and
Historic St. Ann’s.
Hilda is survived by her children George Dums of Rib Lake; Judy (Daniel) Akin of
Marshfield; 2 grandchildren; siblings Louise Ogle of Ladysmith; Loretta (Robert)
Schoechert of Wisconsin Rapids; Brother-in-law: John (Mary) Dums of Rib Lake;
Sisters-in-law: Helen & Marcella Dums both of Medford. She is further survived
by many nieces, nephews and friends.
She is predeceased by her husband Bernard H. Dums; parents Herman and Lena (Homann)
Kreuscher; siblings Irene Royce; Carol Kreuscher; and Junior Kreuscher.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be given to
the family for a future designation.
