Ruesch, Melvin W. “Meps” (14 JAN 1918 - 19 APR 2017)
Melvin W. “Meps” Ruesch, 99, of Medford, passed away on Wednesday, April 19,
2017 at home surrounded by his family.
Melvin was born on Jan. 14, 1918 to August and Ida Ruesch in Medford. He was a
graduate of Medford High School. After his education he went on to own and
operate West Side Grocery in Medford for 27 years. He later worked at Weather
Shield until his retirement. Melvin was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church,
an active member of Knights of Columbus, past member and officer of Wisconsin
Timberline Beagle Club and past member of Northern Michigan Hare Association.
Melvin will be best remembered for his generosity and for doing one good deed
every day.
Melvin is survived by two sons, Jay (Jean) Ruesch of Medford and Lee (Bonnie)
Ruesch of Rogers, Alaska; three daughters, Mary (Barry Brusseau) Ruesch of
Wausau, Lynn (George) Ruesch of Hayward and Fay Ruesch of Elkhorn; nine
grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Melvin is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine “Jerrie” Ruesch; two
grandsons, Douglas Ruesch and Mitchell Steindl; seven brothers and one sister.
A mass of Christian burial for Melvin will take place on Monday, April 24 at
Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 11:30 a.m. with Father Phil Juza officiating.
Burial at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery will follow.
Visitation will take place on Monday, April 24 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church
from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Melvin’s name may be made to Holy
Rosary Catholic Church or Hope Hospice and Palliative Care. Hemer Funeral
Service of Medford and Rib Lake has been entrusted with arrangements.
