Germaine Stark, 95, longtime resident of Appleton until she moved to Stevens Point in 1999, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, in Wausau.

Germaine was born in Clintonville on Sept. 9, 1913, to the late Charles and Clara (Seibold) Spearbraker. She married Christopher Stark on Nov. 25, 1937, in Appleton; he preceded her in death Oct. 19, 1988.

Germaine had a life-long love of music, dance and celebrations of life events. She organized St. Joseph Parish Senior Citizens bus trips in the 1970s and 1980s to various venues throughout Wisconsin and the United States. Germaine was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Packers, Brewers, Bucks and Badgers.

She is survived by her daughter, Adelle Mary (Kevin) Spaay, Junction City; her grandsons, Jeffrey Spaay (friend Christine Schmackel) and Karl (fiancée Shelly Olson) Spaay; her nieces, Klaranne Spearbraker, Ellanne Spearbraker and Barbara Boyd; and her brother-in-law, Stanley Buczkowski, Oceanside, Calif. She was preceded in death by her sister, Delores (Spearbraker) Buczkowski, and her brother, Milton Spearbraker.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 W. Lawrence Street, Appleton, with Fr. Larry Abler officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call directly at the church Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. A memorial has been established in her name.
