Virgil C. Hendrick, 78, of the town of Easton, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Virgil was born June 10, 1930, to Burt and Grace (Hall) Hendrick, in South Edwards, N.Y.
Virgil loved baseball and was an avid New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed the outdoors, particularly hunting with his family. Some years ago, Virgil trained horses for harness racing.
Survivors include his two sons, Paul (Maria) Hendrick, and Stacy (Dora) Hendrick, both of the town of Easton; one daughter, Barbara Hack, Marathon; six grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Baguhn, Wausau, Ronnie Hack, Wausau, Charles Hendrick and Veronica (Michael) Spahn, Wausau, Magic (Nate) Kieper, Wausau, and Misty Collis, Ironwood, Va.; four great-grandchildren, Scott, Saylor, Amado and Belicia Rose; mother of the children, Joan (Don) Curtis, New Berlin, New York; and many nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles; one brother, Gerald Hendrick; and two sisters, Irene and Pauline Saber.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at the Wausau Alliance Church, 2125 Franklin St., Wausau. The Rev. Lou Rossetti will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau and again from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a donation to the Aspirus Regional Cancer Center.
